August was another busy month for MAN with the mobilisation of a large contract, and with the rapid growth of the business in 2019 we have again been expanding our Head Office team again.
We were very pleased to have our new website go live on 1st August. We have been working hard on this behind the scenes for a while now and are really happy with the result! Throughout Spring/Summer this year we have had professional photographers out on various sites capturing our officers at work. We update the website regularly with our latest news, employee of the month, new recruitment oppurtunities and much more! Keep checking back here to stay in the loop with all things MAN!!
Events we have done is Ride London, Classic Ibiza, The Ashes Cricket, British Athletics and Creamfields over bank holiday. We have also added new vehicles to our fleet, and have been busy with key holding and alarm response.
1st August saw the start of a new Corporate contract for MAN, with us taking over security teams at two Head Office sites in Preston and Walsall. As well as setting up the mobilisation on these sites, our teams were also kept occupied with events throughout the month. August is always a busy time for events, and our teams enjoyed providing cover at a range of Summer occasions including Coventry’s Godiva Festival and the Windsor Park Boxing in Belfast.
Our in-house Head Office training room was put to good use in August – we ran a 2-day Aviation course for our security staff who handle airside packages. The training is informative and in depth, with a focus on the handling of air side packages and anti-terrorism training. We were proud of all our delegates as we received a 100% pass rate. With training and staff development in mind, we also took a team from HR down to Poole to roll out some Recruitment & HR Process training with the Supervisors and Managers who lead our teams at Sunseeker. The training was enjoyed it by all and we received great feedback from the learners who were excited to pass on their knowledge to their teams.
We also enrolled 2 more Security Managers on higher level Management course using our Apprenticeship Levy, and also began the hunt for a new Apprentice Accounts Assistant to join our Head Office team.
August was also a busy month for distributing our 25th Anniversary Cupcakes to officers around the country. Traci and Laura from HR enjoyed spending time with teams on the South Coast, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Warwickshire. Presenting the officers with their cakes is a great opportunity to catch up with them on an informal basis, and get them feeling involved in the Company’s anniversary celebration.
Another two new West Midlands contracts began on 1st July; the running of a local authority CCTV Control room and a busy Birmingham city centre office building. Teams of staff from both new sites joined us, and have worked alongside our Contracts Managers to achieve a smooth transfer. We were also pleased to renew several long-standing contracts with customers in July, including for high profile City of London locations.
The Summer months are always jam-packed with Events, keeping our teams busy nationwide. We covered a varied range of events and occasions in July, from the Leamington Spa Cycle race to large Classic Ibiza music events across the UK.
Our busy 24 Control Room took on a large new Keyholding Project, offering response support for cashpoints across the country. This had been a big task for our Keyholding Managers, who are excited to work on such a vast new project.
MAN Commercial Protection were featured in the BDO Global Report of the Top 50 Growth of Birmingham based independent companies in July. MAN have exploded on to the radar as a fast-growing privately owned business thanks to our exceptional growth over the past 4 years. The piece in the BDO report is titled ‘Security With A Friendly Face’ and really emphasises the goal of MAN Commercial to never lose our personal touch no matter how big we grow, and our aim in our 25th year to focus on employee engagement.
July 11th was the National Finals of the BSIA Security Officer of the Year Awards, held at the London Park Lane Marriott. Two of our officers already achieved commendation in June, winning Regional Awards so were very excited to attend the National Finals. Unfortunately, neither Officer won the national round in their category as there was stiff competition, but our representatives on the day enjoyed hearing about some truly amazing achievements by officers in our industry.
Our team were out and about weekly in July dropping in on teams nationwide to deliver their special 25th Anniversary Cupcakes. The cakes are going down really well and Traci and Laura from HR are really enjoying spending time with Officers on site. We aim to have delivered a cake to every employee by the end of our 25th year in December, as well as more Anniversary celebrations soon to be revealed!
The first few days in April made for a very busy Easter Break here at MAN Commercial as we started a record-breaking 12 new contracts. After a lot of preparation throughout March to mobilise the various sites across the country, it was rewarding and exciting to finally take over and welcome over 100 new members of staff to our team. Our Contracts Managers and HR team have enjoyed visiting the new locations country-wide which include Entertainment Centres in Norwich, Bath and Newcastle and busy Distribution Centres in Doncaster and Middlesbrough.
Our events team have been working hard as ever, covering 3 days at Aintree Festival including the extremely busy Grand National Saturday. We have also had teams at top sporting events such as the London Marathon and the Tyson Fury Press Conferences to mark his return.
Behind the scenes we have been focusing on our continued preparation for the new GDPR regulation, as well as various other training and development. We ran a 2 day Recruitment & HR Processes course at Head Office which was a great opportunity to get Managers and Supervisors from a mixture of sites and locations together to learn and share ideas. We are also putting a big focus on utilising our Apprenticeship levy to develop our existing staff, and have signed up several of our team for higher training over the next 12 months.
