Regional Success for MAN Commercial at BSIA Awards

Two of our long serving Security Officers were nominated by the Company this year for the Annual British Security Association Awards (BSIA) thanks to their outstanding performance. Both officers regularly go the extra mile and are extremely well thought of here at MAN so we really wanted to recognise them on a wider scale, in honour of our 25th year.im-2.jpg

Allan Morris was put forward in the category of Service to the Customer. This stemmed from Allan receiving a huge amount of positive feedback from our clients, praising his high level of Customer Service and his dedication to going above and beyond for the needs of both the client and the public.

The second officer we chose to nominate is Imran Nazir, a member of the MAN Commercial Protection Ltd Security Team that works on the Birmingham City Council Car Parks. Imran was nominated in the category of Outstanding Act.

On shift one early morning, Imran received a call asking him to attend Pershore Street Car Park in the city centre as a young man had been observed dangling his legs over the edge of the rooftop level of the car park.

Imran attended site and called out to the young man to let him know that he was there, telling him that life was too short and suggested that the young man came over to talk to him.

At first the young man was unresponsive saying that he was happy where he was; Imran persisted and asked him to repeat what he had said as he couldn’t hear him. Imran repeated that life was too short and if he came to talk to him first and then decided to go ahead with taking his own life he wouldn’t stop him. The young man gradually moved away from the edge and started to talk to Imran. The young man explained that he had lost his job and was in debt and he could see no other way out. It was at this point that Imran noticed there was blood running down the man’s hands and he calmly asked him if he wanted him to call him an ambulance.

Imran stayed calm and continued to talk to the young man; sharing some of his own experiences and offering ways in which to deal with things. He offered both practical help, such as contacting the loan company for support, and shared some of his own experiences having previously lost his own job after 12 years, staying positive and focused on getting a new job had led him on to becoming a Security Officer – a job he truly loves.

When the Police arrived one of the Officers shook Imran’s hand and told him he had done very well and that he had undoubtedly “saved a life today”.

Following the submission of our nominations, everyone at MAN was delighted when the BSIA contacted us with the news that both Imran and Allan had been awarded Regional Winner awards in their respective categories.im-1.jpg

Andrew Cooper from the BSIA visited our Head Office to present both officers with their certificates. We held a mini-ceremony in our training room with lots od the team present; everyone was so proud of the officer’s achievements.

Due to their success at the regional ceremony, both officers put through to the BSIA Annual National Awards, which took place in London on 11thJuly 2018. Allan and Imran attended with some of our Management Team, and a fantastic day was had by all.

Imran said of his nomination “I am very honoured to have received this regional award, I believe this is a lesson learned and that is dear to me. Loyalty and commitment are the attributes that I aspire to and I believe in going the extra mile, and giving 110% in my work. I also have learned with experience that any obstacles or problems can be overcome, with fairness and being proactive in achieving any goal.  I am committed to delivering an excellent service on behalf of Man Commercial. I try my best to deliver the best service for my employer and have a can-do attitude with whatever the situation that may arise during my working day and work to the highest standard.  This award is an outstanding achievement for me personally and I would like to thank MAN for putting me forward.  I also would also like to thank my supervisor Abraham and the whole MAN commercial team for putting me where I am now. May the success continue for MAN Commercial!”
