History

Founded in 1993, MAN Commercial Protection was born, with a plan to create a customer-focused, people-centric service to enhance businesses. Our CEO Iain McCallister is the last remaining member of the original founders, after whom MAN was named – McCallister, Atkins and Neighbour. Iain McCallister’s incredible drive and commitment to ensuring the provision of high-quality security services makes sure that the MAN Commercial team thrive and embed this ethos in all that we do.

In 2003 we became a Private Limited Company and over 8 years has outgrown our office 3 times. Initially located in Hall Green in Birmingham, the company now runs from a modern suite of offices bought in 2009 just outside Solihull. Being only 3 minutes away from the national motorway network, means that most parts of the United Kingdom are easily accessible to MAN Commercial Protection. Keeping us connected with our community and clients.

As the company has evolved, we have continued to uphold our principles of high quality, steadfast integrity and providing best practice services. Here at MAN Commercial, we pride ourselves on the fact that our focus on customer service and support is unparalleled; we understand that people are the foundation of our business.

From our inception, over 30 years ago, MAN Commercial started with concentrating on supplying security for sporting events and VIPs.  As such, we are a founding member of the UK Crowd Management Association (UKCMA).

Some key milestones in our history include:

  • 1993-2002: Provided personal and venue security across the globe for several high-profile artists such as: Ocean Colour Scene, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, The Who and UB40. Each assignment involved sold out tour dates, festivals and TV appearances.
  • 1995-Present: MAN Commercial Protection provides security at various music festivals, sporting venues and events, including Riyadh season in Saudi Arabia for Queensbury Promotions.
  • 1996-Present: The company has become the country’s leading security provider to professional boxing and remains Frank Warren’s Sports Network’s contracted supplier. MAN Commercial have provided cover for all of British boxing’s biggest names including Frank Bruno, Joe Calzaghe, Amir Khan, Ricky Hatton, Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Prince Naseem Hamed, Steve Collins and Enzo Macranelli. As well as, supplying personal security for Mike Tyson, Kosto Tzyu, Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins and other World Champions during their stay in the UK.
  • 2017-Present: MAN Commercial Protection supplies Crowd Management staff for different London Marathon Events. Each year we take on new areas across the event, with guarding levels increasing by 40% from 2022-2025.
  • 2022 – The company cover security for all Royal Events, including: Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral and King Charles III’s Coronation.
  • 2023 – Celebrated our 30th anniversary and opened our Highfield certified MAN Commercial Training Academy at HQ in Solihull. We have opened this academy to clients and local colleges for both training and teaching.

Following our success in specialised event security, in 2005 MAN Commercial increased our service provision portfolio, offering: Static and Mobile Security Officers; Key Holding and Alarm Response and Public Space Surveillance (PSS) CCTV Monitoring to an assorted mix of major clients such as:

  • Property Managing Agents
  • Logistic/Distribution Companies
  • Facilities Management Companies
  • Local Government Contracts

Over the past years, MAN Commercial has achieved record-breaking success, increasing our turnover to £64 million through 100% organic growth. We credit this success to our extremely hard-working management team, who go above and beyond their duties to ensure MAN Commercial continues to grow. Launching our systems solutions has further propelled MAN Commercial within the industry, enabling us to expand our areas of expertise by combining technology with our security experience.

We have been fortunate to be recognised within the security industry for our exemplary service provision and leadership, having been awarded:

  • Security Company of the Year – British Security Industry Awards.
  • Awards for Customer Experience and Security Team of the Year over the last 5 years.
  • Excellence in Training and Development in People, and Solihull Business of the Year by the Solihull Chamber of Commerce 2024.
  • CEO Iain McCallister won Company Leader of the Year 2025.
  • Family Business of the Year 2025.

We continue to strive for economic, social and environmental benefits for all, and we have implemented many of our own Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to benefit clients and community. Including, local recruitment leading to the creation of 400 new jobs; fundraising for local charities and donating £20,000, and providing 24/7 support to our employees through IPSA. Our commitment to CSR is embedded in all that we do and has allowed us to build a business ensures we make positive impacts through our actions.
