We kicked off September in the best way we know how, with the takeover of a brand new site on the 1st. This is the first COMAH site in our portfolio, and we are working with a brand new client.
The 11th September marked a big birthday for Chris Smith, our Quality Director who turned 50. Chris has been at MAN for over 20 years and we wanted to make the day special for him so we all celebrated with a surprise birthday brunch at Head Office.
We are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for two very exciting awards this month! We work hard as a team at MAN Commercial across all areas of the business and we think it is important to recognise the good work we do and believe in putting our people forward for the recognition they deserve in the industry.
Our HR Team have been selected as finalists for the ‘Inspiration in HR’ category at the upcoming 2020 Security and Fire Excellence Awards which will take place in November. The HR team are thrilled to have been recognised in this way, particularly for their hard work, dedication and innovation during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are also finalists at October’s Solihull Awards in the ‘Large Business of the Year’ category. Solihull has always been the home of MAN Commercial, with our Head Office based in the town ever since we started back in 1993. As significant local employers in the Solihull and Birmingham areas we were excited to put ourselves forward and are delighted to have reached the finals.
You may have spotted one or two MAN Commercial officers on ITV news this month! ITV filmed at one of sites on the 14th September – Sunseeker in Poole where we operate a security team of over 30.
We have also received more nominations this month for our Employee of the Month Award than ever before! Nominations usually come from clients, managers or members of the public who have had a positive experience thanks one of our security officers, received outstanding service or observed an officer going above and beyond their daily duties to really make a difference. To have so many nominations is fantastic, and really shows the impact of what our officers are doing.

As always, we are focussed on making improvements whereby we keep pushing the Company forwards, this month we have put plans in place for a technology upgrade to our training room equipment. We’ll be having a state of the art 86-inch interactive television installed next month. This addition will really support the business as this will enhance and support virtual meetings now taking place more than ever in line with Covid.
At the beginning of September, we went live with our new Google ads campaign – this campaign has been designed and launched to enhance and encourage web interaction and attraction along with supporting our ever-growing sales team.
We are also always working to recruit and are currently trialling a new job platform as well as investing more in our existing recruitment platforms to really maximise the visibility of our job vacancies and our position as a prominent employer within the security industry.
This month we went live with our new uniform recycling initiative, this has been put in place to help save costs and encourage as a business to be more environmentally friendly. This helps the company reduce uniform expenditure along with contributing towards the environment we are very excited to see the results and figures over the next few months of costs saved along with the figures of uniform recycled.
