January & February News

The new year started as busy as ever for MAN Commercial, with two new large distribution centre manned guarding contracts in Northampton starting on 2nd January. With over 40 staff to TUPE transfer and Site Management teams to recruit this meant a busy Christmas and New Year for our mobilisation teams, which was all worth it when we received great client feedback once the sites went live.Boxing-Club-Presentation-800.jpg

New Year was also busy around the Midlands area, where we picked up various new jobs from both new and existing clients, including a concierge requirement in Wolverhampton and additional cover for Transport for West Midlands. With this in mind, we held a big recruitment drive in January, focusing on finding new skilled officers to join our teams. HR team members also attended a DWP briefing for Security Industry Recruiters.

We have also added two new Vetting Officers to our HR team to assist with the processing of and communications to our ever-expanding workforce – a big welcome to Lexxie and Emily who started at MAN Head Office in January.

Our Security Team at The Brewery Shopping Centre in Romford received a Special Achievement Award from the Company in recognition of an outstanding performance when a gun was pulled on site. We are looking at this and other outstanding acts our officers have accomplished over the last 12 months as potential nominations for various national Security Awards later in the year.

On a Training front, we have continued to invest in our people by enrolling more Security Supervisors on to Management Training Apprenticeship programmes. We also ran a software training course at Head Office which was attended by our Payroll and Control Room staff – this was beneficial in ensuring we are continually maximising the effectiveness of our workplace management programme, Timegate.

In February, representatives attended a Violent Crime Problem Solving Workshop run by the Home Office which was very insightful – we have also rolled out online ACT Counter Terrorism Training to all of our staff nationwide.

Following our celebration-filled 25th year in 2018, we were delighted to finally gift our chosen charities with the money we raised for them. Pictured are the youngsters at Hall Green Boxing Gym with their cheque for £7,000.

Tom Chaney, the Head Coach at Hall Green Boxing Club passed on his thanks: “I would like to say a big thank you to MAN Commercial Protection from all the volunteer coaching staff & boxers for their very kind and generous donation. This amount will go a long way to keep the doors open at the gym for years to come as well as get us some much needed new equipment. Plus, we also plan to have a team trip away at the end of the season to one of the biggest Box Cups in Europe which will be great for the success and development for all the boxers and the club. This would not have been possible without the donation from MAN Commercial. Yours in Sport. Tommy Chaney”

Having sponsored Hall Green Boxing Club for over 10 years now, everyone at MAN are so pleased to have helped them in such a big way and are looking forward to being involved with the club for many years to come.
