August can often be a quiet month, thanks to the usual peak holiday season, but the events of 2020 have made sure this wasn’t the case this year – at least not at MAN Commercial!
Even without our usual jam-packed Summer festivals and events schedule, we have remained exceptionally busy mobilising sites with new clients, as well as helping existing customers manage their growing security needs due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Although we have been disappointed to miss our usual Summer commitments, especially with MAN Commercial being veterans in the Event Security sector, it has been unfortunate to be forced to take a year’s break. However, our Event Teams have keenly got involved in other areas, providing support on our existing contracts and working on temporary NHS testing centres and projects.
August saw the start of two new permanent contracts; a shopping complex in Stoke-on-Trent and a prestigious business park in Leicestershire. The latter has included the introduction of our first electric vehicle, and a team of 6 new Officers who have joined us by TUPE transfer.
On top of this, we have also heavily increased our security provisions for an existing client in the distribution industry, who have opened several new warehouses recently to support the NHS supply chain.
September will see us commence a new contract with our first ever COMAH site, so recruitment, staff training and in depth health and safety assessments are already underway as we prepare to mobilise.
Recruitment has begun for some exciting new roles in the Birmingham area; Transport Safety Officers who will be based across the West Midlands travel network. Transport Safety Officers have proved successful in Manchester and these positions are a first for Birmingham. This is a project we are working on with West Midlands Combined Authority and West Midlands Police and we are delighted to be involved.
Back at Head Office, we have again been busily recruiting to strengthen our support teams as the business grows. This month Chloe and Jamie joined us to work within our recruitment and vetting teams. MD Iain McCallister has also appointed Maria Randall as PA to Managing Director.
Our new remote sign-in system in our Head Office reception is now live – the ipad based system provides visitors with information required for their visit and gives them the opportunity to leave feedback afterwards. We have also had new drone footage shot around the office, giving an exciting overview of our premises. Along with this, new pictures have been taken to be used for website updates.
